Dedicated VR modPCVRExcellentActive

A mod added to the existing PC game to enable VR. A dedicated VR mod built for this one game. These are normally the best experiences, because controls, menus and comfort were designed for VR rather than injected.

Setup notes

Supported game and setup

FlatOut 2 VR v1.6.3 supports PC game version 1.2 from GOG or Steam with the ZOOM Platform updates. It requires Windows 10/11 and Vulkan-capable graphics. SteamVR and Virtual Desktop/VDXR are documented runtime paths. The source includes extraction/installer steps.

VR controls and compatibility

The mod provides stereo race views, head tracking and in-world HUD/menu panels. Players may retain keyboard, mouse, gamepad or wheel controls; the project also supports VR controllers for driving and menus. The developer reports testing on Quest 3 over Virtual Desktop and Steam Link. A current fix addresses an OpenXR layer failure when ReShade or another layer is installed. Do not treat high headset refresh rates as a guarantee of smooth performance.

Player reviews

Player opinion, separate from the quality label above. That label is our reading of what a method does; these are other people's experience of actually running it.
