Ready or Not VR Mod Guide: UEVR, 6DOF Controls and Setup

Set up Ready or Not in VR with UEVR and a current 6DOF profile, including motion controls, runtime choice, performance, and troubleshooting.

Catalog: Ready or Not · 6DOF UEVR profile

Ready or Not can be played in PCVR through UEVR, and it has become one of the most developed community UEVR experiences. Current profiles can go far beyond headset tracking by adding 6DOF weapon handling, visible hands, recoil, haptics, holsters, gestures, and manual-reload behavior.

That makes the game extremely compelling in VR, but it also means you should follow the profile's exact version requirements instead of using a generic UEVR tutorial.

Important anti-cheat warning

UEVR is an injector. Do not assume that injecting into an online or anti-cheat-protected mode is safe merely because the game works in VR.

Use the profile author's current instructions and stay within any supported offline or explicitly documented configuration. When in doubt, do not inject into protected multiplayer.

What you need

  • Ready or Not on Windows PC.
  • A working PCVR headset connection.
  • UEVR.
  • A current Ready or Not 6DOF profile.
  • Any profile-specific plugin or pak files.

A recent Nexus profile updated in July 2026 describes support for full playability, visible hand meshes, recoil/haptics, holsters, gestures, and manual reloading. That is a good illustration of how far game-specific UEVR work has progressed.

Step 1: Run the game normally first

Launch Ready or Not in flatscreen mode and reach the menu or gameplay. Verify the current build is stable.

If you use other gameplay mods, consider testing VR first on a clean setup. Once VR works, add other mods back one at a time.

Step 2: Set up UEVR

Install UEVR from the official source and verify your headset works with normal PCVR.

If you have never used the injector before, read How to Install UEVR.

Step 3: Match the profile's UEVR build

Advanced profiles sometimes target specific nightly builds because they depend on newer plugin APIs or controller features.

Do not assume “latest stable” and “latest nightly” are interchangeable. If the profile says it was tested on a particular nightly range, use that range first.

Step 4: Install the game-specific profile

The exact process depends on the profile package. It may include:

  • A UEVR profile archive.
  • Plugin scripts.
  • Pak files.
  • Controller configuration.
  • Recoil/haptic modules.

Read the included instructions before copying anything. Keep a record of every file added so you can remove the mod cleanly later.

Step 5: Launch and inject

A typical flow is:

  1. Start your PCVR runtime/streaming connection.
  2. Launch Ready or Not.
  3. Launch UEVR.
  4. Select the Ready or Not game process.
  5. Import/select the correct profile.
  6. Select the required OpenXR or OpenVR mode.
  7. Inject at the recommended point.

If the profile says to load into a mission first, follow that instruction.

How 6DOF weapon handling works

In a good Ready or Not profile, the weapon can follow the tracked controller independently from the headset. That lets you lean, aim around cover, and manipulate the weapon more like a native VR shooter.

Some profiles emulate two-handed handling through gunstock-style logic rather than full physics. Others add gesture or collision-based interactions.

The exact feature set is profile-specific, so keep PCVR Central's listing updated when the profile changes.

Gamepad support

Ready or Not now has official gamepad support, which can simplify some older UEVR setups that previously relied on third-party input tools. If you prefer seated VR or want to troubleshoot the camera separately from motion controls, testing with a gamepad can be useful.

Performance settings for Ready or Not VR

Ready or Not can become GPU-heavy in complex scenes and CPU-heavy during AI-intensive encounters. For VR, reduce settings that damage frame consistency first:

  • Shadows.
  • Post-processing.
  • Reflections.
  • Effects.
  • Volumetrics.
  • Render resolution.

Keep an eye on both GPU and CPU frametime. A lower average GPU load will not fix a CPU spike caused by AI, destruction, or background processes.

The game launches but VR controls do not work

Check these in order:

  1. Correct profile archive imported.
  2. Required plugins installed.
  3. Correct UEVR nightly/build.
  4. Correct controller bindings.
  5. Correct runtime.
  6. No stale files from an older profile.

If head tracking works, UEVR itself is probably injecting. Focus on the game-specific control layer.

The gun is offset or aiming incorrectly

Do not compensate by permanently twisting your physical wrist. Look for profile controls for weapon offset, dominant hand, aim calibration, or gunstock mode.

A profile built for a different controller pose can need calibration on another headset/controller family.

Flatscreen menus are a common VR-mod limitation. Profiles can use pointer emulation, controller-as-mouse behavior, or temporary head aiming.

If the menu pointer disappears, first reset the profile's mouse/pointer control rather than reinjecting the entire game.

Can you play the whole campaign in VR?

Current community profile pages describe Ready or Not as fully playable in VR. Individual updates can still break specific features, so check the current PCVR Central compatibility notes before a long session.

FAQ

Is Ready or Not officially a VR game?

No. VR support is community-driven through UEVR and game-specific profiles/plugins.

Does Ready or Not VR have motion controls?

Yes, current advanced UEVR profiles can provide 6DOF weapon control and additional VR-specific interactions.

Can I play it wirelessly on Quest 3?

Yes, through a PCVR streaming method such as Air Link, Steam Link, or Virtual Desktop, assuming the PC and network can handle the load.

Should I use OpenXR or OpenVR?

Use the profile's current recommendation. If the profile supports both, test the native route for your headset and keep the one with better stability and frametime.
