What this policy covers
This policy covers PCVR Central and the information handled when you browse the catalog, create an account, leave a review, use the Steam library checker, or send a submission. It does not cover websites run by mod creators, game stores, social platforms, or other services that this site links to.
Information we handle
You can read the catalog without an account. If you sign in through Google, GitHub, Discord, or Steam, the authentication provider and our account service may provide an account identifier, display name, avatar, and, where available, email address. PCVR Central does not receive or store your provider password.
When you publish a review, we store its rating, title, body, optional hardware context, timestamps, and the public profile name and avatar associated with it. Reviews and profile names are visible to other visitors.
When you send a submission or message, we store the details you provide, including optional contact details, links, and attachments. To limit spam and abuse, the submission system stores a salted hash of the sender’s IP address rather than the address itself.
The Steam library checker uses your Steam ID and public Steam profile to retrieve your owned-game list from Steam, match it to the catalog, and show the result to you. The owned-game list is not written to our database. A session cookie may retain the Steam ID so the checker works when you return; you can disconnect it from the library page.
How we use information
- To operate accounts, reviews, voting, submissions, and the Steam library checker.
- To review reports, respond when you ask us to, and maintain the accuracy and safety of the catalog.
- To prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and manipulation of popularity or review features.
- To understand aggregate traffic and improve the site when analytics are enabled.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses essential cookies to keep an authenticated session active and to remember a selected language or connected Steam account. If configured, PCVR Central may use privacy-focused, cookieless analytics or Google Analytics. Google Analytics may set cookies and process information under Google’s own privacy terms; it is only loaded after you allow analytics in the privacy choices panel. Advertising partners, when enabled, may use cookies or similar technologies to measure campaigns and personalize ads, and are loaded only after you allow advertising.
When information is shared
We use service providers that are necessary to run the site, including authentication, database, storage, and analytics providers when enabled. We do not sell personal information. Public reviews are shared publicly by design. We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to protect the site, users, or others, or when required by law.
Your choices
You can browse without an account, sign out at any time, delete reviews you have posted, and disconnect a Steam account from the library page. To ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information that is not available through the site, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
